Topic: Trump is a popularist and will be the first President to listen to and follow the will of the people

Anonymous A started this discussion 9 years ago #57,637

Mostly he will listen to white America and that's what will make America grate again. Because that's who made it grate to begin with.

He certainly will listen to the Ku Klux Klan.

First Klansman ever to lead New York's Israel Day parade and do a campaign ad for Benjamin Netanyahu.

Great for white males, like Bert. bad for everyone else.

Your comma placement there implies that Bert is the quintessential white male. Slightly unfortunate.

FWIW a surprising number of white supremacists like Israel because they view it as an apartheid state, which is of course a good thing. It is also natural ally against Muslim nations in the region who at the moment are hated more viscerally than Jews. That being said I don't think Trump is a card carrying member of the kkk but I do think he shamelessly courted the racist vote with his outrageous comments about, for example judge Curiel. After white supremacists heard that line and started supporting him a little more openly he acted shocked and totally horrified that racists would flock to a guy who said a judge couldn't do his job adequately because he was Mexican and of course disavowed them, but no person with more than four brain cells actually thought he was serious about it. It's part of the dance he had to do to squeeze enough votes out to narrowly win in the states he needed to win and it worked!

Bert believes that Trump will make America great again.

Trump is seeking advise from the American people and President Obama.

I hope he is right when he says he likes Obama.

I don't think a Klansman though would be happy about his daughter converting to Judaism and letting his Jewish son in law play a pivotal role in the transition team. Nor would a Klansman choose a Jewish Goldman Sachs executive for Treasury secretary. Maybe it's some kind of super duper ultra-high-frequency dog whistle but I just can't imagine David Duke doing it.

I'm just saying I think the David Duke+Gordon Gekko=Trump narrative is stupid and utterly baseless.

Considering what Bert probably imagines a "great America" to be, I hope he is disappointed.

I hate to break it to you but America is not and never has been 'grate'. You officially lead the world in only 3 categories: number of adults who are incarcerated (per capita), number of adults who believe angels are real (again per capita), and defense spending. Everything else like education, health care, culture etc you are way down the list.

To be fair, he was talking about white supremacists in general. The KKK, I think we can agree, are a highly dogmatic lot with quite extreme views. Other, non-KKK white supremacists might be more flexible about these things, as long as Trump keeps up the xenophobic rhetoric.

No one said he was a klansman seriously. mark just explained why white supremacists have a fondness for Israel. Why are you still being a fucking idiot?

I said explicitly that Donald Trump is not a KKK member. I said he panders to that crowd to get their votes. He isn't David Duke but when he says that he doesn't know who David Duke is and doesn't know anything "about that"(Dukes endorsement) despite saying on tape in an interview in 2000 that he wasn't going to run for president because the reform party had people like David Duke in it, white supremacists pick that up. They know he knows who David duke is, and the fact that he is playing dumb and denying it is him saying to them "i want your vote but I know how the game is played". You'd never see a Democratic candidate or a traditional Republican candidate do that. That's one of the reasons trump won. Not the only one but its a piece of the puzzle and i don't find conservatives handwaving it away to be a good look imo. I do think it can be a crutch for Democrats "trump lost because racists blah blah" which is true to an extent but distracts from talking about other problems with the party and the Hillary campaign.
