The day after Trump won, our university allowed us to go home because of how distressed we were. After some counselling we then found a space space in the middle of a mob and set about wrecking our home town in protest at those violent, knuckle-scraping Trump fans.

Yeah, that poll is the most useless thing ever, in the end it's editors choice any way.

I remember one year Kim Yong-Un was leading the polls the whole time, but they gave it to Obama.

This year Assange was leading by a landslide and now he disappeared from the list.

When I voted Jill Stein had 88% no, but was way above some persons who had like 60-70% yes. The whole poll is shit, and PotY by Time is a scam.

I think TIME should give their poll a bit more weight in the decision.

To be fair to the magazine, they do usually publish the results of the poll in the article even if they don't put the real winner on the cover.

isn't their requirement that the person has done a lot to influence the year, for better or for worse? this doesn't mean they are trump supporters now. also clickbait

Yes for example I was person of the year in 2006. It's whoever Time feels was the most significant/influential person that year. Online polls are always meaningless lol.

Image is two other people of the year.

I'm not a Trump supporter, but he's by far the person who has made the biggest impact, for better or worse, so I think it's fair that he gets Times Person of The Year.

Putting Trump on the cover is just a marketing ploy, don't overthink it. He has had absolutely zero affect on anything as of now. All he has done is mobilize the mob by making a bunch of impractical promises which he is now having to walk back. If your argument is reliant on "impact", then there are research scientists who, this year and through brilliance and single-minded dedication, took massive steps to wiping out diseases which kill millions. But alas Time wouldn't sell many copies if they recognized them.

Now go listen to some Wish You Were Here.

I mostly posted the image because stalin has a paragraph about who he was and next to Hitler it just says "killed Jews". It was a quality edit.
