There are other colors out there that other animals have the opportunity to perceive (based on being able having the ability to perceive different spectrum of UV waves then we do) but that we can't even imagine what those colors would look like, not having the cognitive referance to even imagine different colors?

Speaking of color, the fact that not everyone sees the same color if red is also pretty cool. 60% of the population has the amino acid serine in position 180 of the red open protein, wheras 40% of the population has alanine in that position. Although the absorption characteristics caused by these differences would be subtle, it means that not every human sees red in the same way.

Google: when did we start seeing the color blue.
Also, we can use technology to make both IR and UV spectrum visible (tho it does translate them into a spectrum we can see, so it's a bummer, would be cool to see it "for what i t really is" but oh well).
It's just EM waves in the end, and we mapped some of them in our brains. Imagine you'd see the whole EM spectrum. WiFi, GSM, AM/FM Radio, TV, Sattelite communications etc... feels good as is.

Recently NPR played songs from Whales that are in the audio spectrum below the human audio spectrum. The frequencies were easily shifted up just enough so we could perceive them.

That sounds actually neat. I grew up in a house where NPR was on in the background nearly all the time, so I've naturally become a big fan of their news and do believe that they have some of the best quality in terms of news. I haven't listened to NPR since I moved out, but I may stream online or something one of these days when I need background noise.
I take the bus and don't own a radio, but if I drove then I would probably listen to NPR which admittedly is an odd preference of a radio station for someone who is 24.
