Externally hosted imageHOW IT WORKS

Let’s start in your data center. It was built a while ago and is definitely showing its age. The racks are full of disk and tape drives of multiple vintages, each storing precious, mission-critical data. You and your colleagues spend too much time inside of the raised floor, tracking cables and trying to squeeze out just a bit more performance

This is really cool.

So you get to keep the truck? Or are you just left with the container?

Neither. They take the truck back to the AWS datacenter and it gets imported to your cloud account, so you can access it at high speed using their cloud computing

That makes much more sense. And yet, it would be rather cool to own your own giant, mobile hard drive.

its pretty slow to transfer over the internet, you cant really get 1 terabyte / sec transfer speeds so its a lot faster to use a truck
