Chas and Dave made some great records for sure, but in my opinion they weren't the force of nature Zeppelin were.
I don't remember the name of the song, but there's a track on their debut album from January 1969 which opens with a descending G Major bassline, with a tenth jump from E then to G, followed by a descending G-F#-F-E pattern switching to D-C#-C-B. Jimmy Page then plays a pair of notes two octaves above, doubling the chromatic ostinato of the bass. Like this:

Then Plant comes in with the lyrics:

Yeah the bands you listed are dadrock bands. Do you understand? Think of it as the soundtrack of rock music elderly gentlemen used to listen to while trying to program their VCRs.

This is contradictory because first you say that dadrock is "the bands you listed" in the poll, but then you go on to say that radio stations which play dadrock "don't play music made after 1985". And yet, for example, The Who (who I listed in the poll) were making music into the 2000s and it was played on radio stations.

I'm more a fan of gandsonprog and secondcousinpop, but I'd never say that pulicly. After all, the music we listen to is a badge of social acceptance and it's important to fit in with the modern crowd, as snowflake and cupcake have taught us all in this thread. I'm off out now to buy a t-shirt to tell everyone which bands I listen to and hope to be accepted.
