Topic: A Hypothetical Scenario

Catherine !TGirlYJKXM started this discussion 10 years ago #57,373

You reside within a society where wealth is distributed evenly among all professions and work. Everybody would be making $5 Million dollars from whatever career or job they choose to pursue. Education is free for those who may wish to proceed with a different profession. Jobs such as food service and janitorial would also be given the same payout. The catch is that you still have to work in order to earn your paycheck.

What career or job would you prefer to do?

Keep in mind for this scenario you are welcomed to try another job or career.

catherine, none of this matters anymore. civilization is doomed. minichanopolis needs you to learn a trade. i'm learning blacksmithing, so you should learn leatherworking. we'll also need someone to make furs if you'd prefer that, but, uh, you won't. so stop fooling around! we only have a few months left to prepare!@

Is leatherworking like stitching, sewing, and knitting? If so, I've been looking to get into that actually. But this is a hypothetical scenario so, of course, nothing posted in my initial post matters.

Bad answer. You for the same money can test rocking chairs for endurance or become my Vice President and we re-configure position so you are in charge of Vice.

You work in a difficult job for meager wages that has likely already wrecked your body.

Have you ever thought about trying out a world view that might, you know, not shit all over people like you as both stupid and capable of little more than labor?

@737,420 (Catherine !TGirlYJKXM)

If she'd be making the same amount of money as you in this scenario then it wouldn't really be that crappy of a job if she prefers to do the work. Plus rocking chair testing sounds boring. I'd taking working at McDonald's then that job.

You seem upset. Perhaps you could get a job as a Walmart greeter so you are required to smile! I bet it would make you feel better

I do not remember if I have experienced a rocking chair. Not sure I have seen one other than on TV

In such a scenario, society would undergo a paradigm shift and the honor would not come with your position but of your willingness to work. In fact i could see current "shit" jobs as being the most sought after. Only a hero of the people would choose to clean toilets when they didn't have to.

And this allows those who actually want to be a doctor become a doctor instead of only becoming one for the money.

I can see drives encouraging people to be doctors but the incentive to do so would not be the salary.

The incentive for doctors could just be that they are a philanthropist. Which may place them within that "hero" category.
