When we die, we cease to use energy to power all the mechanisms that fight entropy. Also, a living body has an immune system that actively destroys invading bacteria. Upon death, the body does not attract bacteria any more than before, but because it no longer does anything to prevent bacteria from attacking, they multiply and take over.
