As a trans-girl, I'm terrified of the effects of having a Republican controlled house, senate, Congress and a Republican president.
I don't care so much about bathroom policies, that's not a major issue compared to job security and discrimating, but the fact that basic rights to be treated like human are going to be stripped away due to not understanding people like us, and finding us weird is fucking terrifying.
I'm sure that most transgender people have experienced clear and obvious discrimation in the workplace, and we're the most in need of laws to protect us.

...are you vouching for every single person in the country or something? how can you make a blanket statement like that? of course people can lose their jobs, be discriminated against or not be hired in the first place for a wide variety of reasons that have nothing to do with performance. your empty statement has no meat.

subjective discrimination is okay? and guarding against it is unreasonable? hmm. i disagree with that if that's what you mean. you'd need to convince me how that's not bigotry.

People discriminate for all sorts of reasons, in all areas of life. Is it not okay to refuse to hire someone who seems unstable? Or is hideous? Or deformed even in customer service settings? Someone with track marks? Someone with self cutting scars? Someone who is 600 pounds? I think it should be legal to refuse to here anyone for any reason.
Is it bigotry to refuse to sleep with someone over appearance, sex, gender, etc? Yes. Is all bigotry bad. No

Not true at all, for profit health care facilities may think that potential families may be uncomfortable with having a transgender worker care for their family which requires bathing and toileting as part of doing cares, or they may just be uncomfortable with having a transgender employee.
The residents and their families I cared for weren't the ones who had a problem with it, it was the administrator employees and corporate that did.
I still occasionally run into a family member of a resident two years after I left and they thank me for being such an excellent caregiver to their mother.

It's typically not the residents or the families who had a problem with it. They loved me, it was the employees, administrator and corporate.
As an example, once I came out there was another employee who I found out from multiple people who was older who was going around to staff and even residents talking about "how it was wrong" and how "she refused to call me by my (preferred name)". Now going around to the employees and saying that is inappropriate, but it's expecially inappropriate going around to the residents.
I then filed a complaint against her once I found out from 3 other people, that employee didn't get disciplined, and after filing the complaint I began having weird things happening to my hours Such as being regularly scheduled for a NOC followed by a PM shift the next day, getting off at 7am, coming back at 2:30pm, one time I was scheduled for a double the following day.
It got so bad that I had to get a doctor's note telling them that I needed 10 hours off in between shifts.
Not to mention, certain behaviors such as having a night where I had to deal with 2 falls due to being the only person on staff caring for 20 residents with dementia, and not being able to legally use the hoyer lift. The assistant administrator came in and berated me because the silverware wasn't completely straight while setting the table.
Discrimination happens in those places regardless or how good of an employee you are. Most times they won't directly fire you, but they'll try and try to get you to quit until you just can't take anymore.

Discrimination happens for many reasons and no laws will ever change that. You likely get more shit for your autism than your transness and you don't even realize it.

Not really, I had been doing cares when I had came out at work and nobody had a problem with it. I was a professional and had been told by most other staff and residents that I was an extremely good worker. Only when I came out as transgender did the administration start trying to fuck me over and cause me to burn out.
The residents or family honestly didn't care and let me know regularly how much I meant to them. I had one lady with dementia who thought I was her daughter and I was the only one who she would let shower her, everyone else she would get aggressive, scream, bite, but she didn't do it with me. Therefore, the only time she got showered was when I was on staff.
Families were extremely grateful for me, and let me know that on a regular basis. They didn't care that I was transgender, I was just offering a reason why employers wouldn't hire a transgender person which wasn't the case here.

It may be because I complained about the staffing levels and made frequent suggestions to the administrator that they had to hire someone else on night shift, but the employee who didn't get disciplined for going to the residents suggests that it was discrimination.
