I'm two weeks in the future, and I haven't even sobered up enough to figure out how fucked up this all is. I don't even believe it yet.

My guess is, hardcore Bernie backers took the polls for granted and didn't turn out to do their part to counterbalance the reliable, more republican leaning older voting crowd.

...It's actually both. While there was valuable information in those emails, Russia clearly did it to influence the US election to their own ends.

Meta, if I may say so, this seems to be at odds with your normal opinion on foreign intervention. I mean, if America sends troops to the Middle East or Hillary says she wants to influence a Middle Eastern election, you decry it as immoral and shortsighted whatever their supposed motivation.
But here, when Russia has intervened in foreign affairs for transparent personal gain, you don't seem to mind at all. And even seem to praise them for doing it.

I do think it's deplorable for Russia to intervene in our elections. What I was poking fun at, though, was what I see as a schizophrenic argument from pro-Hillary people that the emails reveal absolutely nothing of any consequence, but also that the Russians leaked them to turn people against Hillary. If the emails are nothing, how do they harm Hillary? I've read some of the emails and there's nothing in them. You're trying to say that the emails contain no evidence of any wrongdoing, yet releasing them damages Hillary. It doesn't make sense.
Trump once said during the election that he could shoot someone in broad daylight on 5th Avenue and not lose a single voter, and it's true. Likewise even if the emails contained Hillary's confession to killing Vince Foster and Seth Rich and laughing about Benghazi (which of course they don't), it would not sway a single Hillary supporter. I think the emails had no effect.

the reason it's concerning is because it means america is becoming a nation that can be fucked with. when we've fucked with others, it's proved our strength. when others fuck with us it proves theirs. it's concerning, because it's proving something bad for us. it's not a matter of it being moral or ethical or good or bad to fuck with other nations. it's not about russia doing something "deplorable." it's about not being taken advantage of by others exploiting our weaknesses as a nation.
anyway, justifying attacks against this nation is a non starter for conversation, citizen. where is your mother fucking patriotism? your party was advantaged by an attack against this nation by our enemies and so all you have to say about it is "chickens coming home to roost?" dude. no. we were fucking attacked. and it might not just have been emails that were hacked either, as the vote is continuing to be counted there are signs that something more may be wrong. she is the clear winner everywhere they are counting paper ballots, but electronic submissions are widely going to trump. there could have been way more then just some hacked e-mails leaked. there needs to be an investigation into what happened. period. even if it had, as you say, no effect. they did it and maybe next time russian meddling will accomplish something.
it is fucking stupid to ignore this problem, say "oh well that's what we get," and go along with it JUST BECAUSE YOUR SIDE FUCKING BENEFITS FROM IT.
