In modern day Japan they aren't reproducing and it only seems to get worse. What if the same would happen to the entire world except instead of reproduction it's mental illness?
In this fictional world, science has brought peace with ways we wouldn't dream of. Food, clean water and energy costs practically nothing and a army of robots makes sure that even the poor can live a luxurious life. The catch is that nobody knows how to stop the mental illness crisis that is making life chaotic and surreal.
Drug abuse is through the roof and normalized, the bus drivers are raging alcaholics, the priests are schizophrenic and the doctors have severe social phobia.... Etc.

He really is an asshole. I think he's really insecure in his masculinity. He keeps talking about how he's a viking and how real men drink beer and only eat meat. He then strokes his beard when starting next to anyone taller than himself.
