They took a look at his hilariously shit drawings and rejected him from art school. The dude, being needy, was the type to hold a grudge, and subsequently went ape shit on their ass.

he paints way better than me though
it's like, you can't get into the art school unless you don't need to go to art school because you are so good already, what the fuck

I'm guessing German art schools are really careful about rejecting students after that... @731,483 (D)

It happened in Austria, but your point is still valid.

OP
God created Hitler in his own image. You need to talk to God and ask her.

He didn't necessarily have them, he just didn't care if they were sacrificed in order to fulfill his power lust

Nope, he hated them on the whole. It's extremely well documented. This should get you started:

that cartoon makes no sense if you know that he allied with Italy, i.e. practically the Romans that actually killed him

Austria is German. That was the point of the whole Anschluss thing.

But these are political books and speeches, right? He was using the current hatred of Jews for his political gain.

Yes, which is all the knowledge we have of Hitler's thoughts on 'the Jewish question'. If you have different info which supports your statement that "he didn't necessarily hate them, he just didn't care if they were sacrificed in order to fulfill his power lust", share it please.

That is terrible historiography on your part. You are speculating on something you can't possibly have knowledge of and which, to be honest, goes against every scrap of Hitler biographical study.

Read Ian Kershaw's study of him as a starting point if you really do want to explore this theme further. It certainly isn't the final word on the issue but it's a good place to begin:

Austria is not the German Federal Republic, but both countries are inhabited by the German people. Just like part of Switzerland is German.

Well I had thought that you were going to share personal journals or something. Political speeches only teach us about his political views.

Relax, I'm not praising Hitler. Is this book worth reading? I've been wanting a book about how Hitler was able to rise to power, but not necessarily about him specifically.

> Political speeches only teach us about his political views.

No they don't, you're being far too narrow in your definition of 'political speech'. The Gettysburg Address was a political speech, do you really think we can glean nothing from it of Lincoln's actual views of humanity?

And yes, that book is defininately worth reading. Kershaw was a professor at my university (though I didn't study under him).
