i believe i would have taken the punch and walked away, i've done it before. but if i were like being asked to sit on a jury trying to convict the guy i'd have to have my mind changed that one's right to defend oneself doesn't apply to men when women are the physical aggressors. i don't need to go off of personal anecdotes about how it's happened to me, or friends and family, i think everyone is aware that women can most certainly escalate things to physical violence. and it is true that upon first blush men are often seen as the primary aggressor, or at least the only one who's responsible for their behavior. it is still seen as the man's responsibility to "just take it" and not raise one's hand in self defense.

maybe you should be saying, "if she's not a big enough girl to take a punch from a man then maybe she shouldn't go around punching them in the face." this is kinda like the whole rape culture thing, there's this misconception that gets pushed around that men should just be a big man and take it and that seems to give some women a belief they can assault men with impunity - and when a woman ends up getting hurt while engaging in that behavior - suddenly it's they guy's fault and all of HIS actions are suddenly questionable. it's blaming the victim to protect an empowered class. just like rape culture.
