Topic: What is this bizarre shit?

Lorraine !oZfU/tvMPw started this discussion 10 years ago #56,608

Every time I go on Facebook marketplace there is someone selling random five pound notes for many times face value, not even good ones it's always crumpled and shit

Who could possibly think that these notes are worth it

Wtf

Why are you so upset over this? It's the same principle as those commemorative 5 pound silver coins which are legal tender but which sell for 20 pounds. You're buying not the actual current value but the potential value once it becomes a rarity. It's simply another kind of currency speculation.

I guess I'm more bewildered that someone could scrunch up notes like that and still think them worth hundreds of pounds... I mean they're never even flat

Look at that last one

Do you not see how absurd it is? I'm so confused?

You don't even need to buy them, there's a lot of them in circulation. Just head out into the UK and start spending money, and you'll get one eventually.

I've had two already, and they are very nice pieces of currency. Really like their design and material.

A while back I bought some scuffed up older Gold coins - Collectors only want clean coins and I got the Gold for market price and they are now probably melted down because I sold them for a small profit as soon as there was a bit of a rise in the market.

One coin from net research still had double the value because it was a rare date and condition if really wood have been TRIPLE Value - Collectors need what they need and are willing to pay for their hobby

Ask me about wine - ok thanks for asking - Me I drink the older valuable wines. Feels good and wood never sell but have donated a few bottles for charity auctions only

I'm surprised at how gradually money changes. It's been ages since they were released and my store still gets more old fivers than new
