get rid of the gradients in the menu bar or make them very subtle, get rid of the background image behind the text

It does look like it's stuck in the 90s... the background, shadows, gradients, chat box... if you used tables for the layout you'd have nailed it 10/10, but this way I'd give it a 9/10 GeoCities score.
