I still hold a few grudges which are 5-10 years old.

Dave is nearing Syntax level grudges. I like that about him, he's always mad about someone for something, and then calls them a pedo and upsets himself more.

I prefer to hold grudges on a per thread basis.

Grudges suck. Especially knowing I'm capable of holding them. I don't like it. Depending on what it is, it happens so naturally. To me, the worst part is that my mind won't allow me to let go of them so easily. Although I do let go of them, they tend to linger long after I do. Sometimes, long enough that I reestablish them and it worsens my relationship with whom I and they are well aware of what caused me to begrudge them.

Now, to answer your question, I say it varies on whether they, whomever I'm begrudging, is able to make me feel otherwise for the better. Also, in the meantime, I'm trying to "get over it" and just "let it go." Which BTW is harder than it looks or seems if you're on the outside looking in. It just takes time, time in which I can't fully explain as to how long that actually is, but it exists and can exist and work given a number of factors I've already mentioned and others that I've yet to experience.

Or, perhaps, his grudge is constantly running out but then being renewed?

In which case he is a sorely unstable individual in desperate need of guidance.

I hold my grudges until the fucker dies. Then after pissing on his/her grave, I let it go.

@OP

As long as the individual poses a threat to myself or my family, I'll continue to hold the grudge.
