Topic: Discuss the alternate reality where Ted Cruz won the Republican primary.

Metæ started this discussion 10 years ago #56,357

Donald Trump ended his campaign in early March after stunning defeats in Iowa, New Hampshire, and South Carolina and we have a Cruz-Kasich Republican ticket.

Trump is out of the picture completely by now and has gone back to being a reality TV star or whatever the hell he does for a living. What Cruz/Kasich scandals is CNN focusing on?

Do you think Teddy can recover from the latest child sexual abuse allegations? The 37 seperate allegations, audio, and video were one thing, but I heard that his pastor might unendorse this week. Put your ear to the ground and let us know if there's any way we can help our conservative warrior pull through this trying time.

Do you think there might be reverse birtherism, since Cruz was born in Calgary and had dual Canadian-US citizenship until 2014?

Cruz certainly does get the National Review crowd's endorsement. And Glenn Beck and evangelicals, too.

It's not reverse birtherism to have a constitutional (and moral) objection to your presidential candidate being born in Calgary.

The Republicans would be less divided, to say the least!

Cruz has some sex scandals. Of course, he throws it back on Bill Clinton but Bill isn't running for President!!

Right. Ted's a smart lawyer and can make legal arguments about how he's a real American citizen because his parents are Americans despite the fact he was born in Canada, but the uncertainty about his eligibility still hurts him.

Can Hillary push this narrative? Probably not openly but I think it's a big deal.

'some sex scandals' =/= a long parade of women and girls alleging similar assaults corroborated by contemporary accounts.

Ted is a disgusting slimy human being whose face contorts into the most horrific shapes trying to imitate genuine emotion. When he makes an argument most people feel compelled to sit on the other side.

Trump lost the primary, and ended his campaign in March. He's totally out of the picture, politically. Trump is a disgraced former reality TV star. We're talking about Ted Cruz, Republican candidate for President, not the failed joke candidate.

Or were you talking about Bill Clinton? He's not on the ballot! And besides, it was a long time ago.

What about the video of 18 year old Ted Cruz saying his goal in life is world domination? That will make some killer Hillary ads! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=54mDJE5ZAL4

You had a good run with the question but you blew it with this
> He's totally out of the picture, politically. Trump is a disgraced former reality TV star.
> Trump is a disgraced

Its near impossible for me to play along with your scenario, because there is no reality where Trump just sits down and goes away on his own NATURALLY

Cruz is so disliked by the Neo Con insiders and the Normal Republicans - I wood think he wood need Normal Republicans to make a go of it - All that said its beyond rare after 8 years of a Democrat in white house for another Democrat to win. By default any Republican makes it.

I feel like he's too hated by the Washington establishment and WAY too Christian to be a great mainstream candidate. With Trump out of the picture it's establishment vs. "sort-of establishment" and Hillary wins by a couple percent in a very boring (compared to this year) election.

How is Cruz planning to handle the terrorist threats against numerous U.S. cities by ISIS?
