doesn't matter which point you want to name #1 and which you name #2
it works either way because of how positives and negatives behave, example what if differeces were (-1)/(-2) instead of 1/2 because you labelled the points the other way around? same answer regardless.

no it is "rise over run", so it is y2 - y1/x2-x1
so it would be (a - b - (a + b))/(c - 2d - (4c - d))
a - b - a - b = 0
c - 2d - 4c + d = -d - 3c

Once you multiply by -1/-1 it should probably look like: 2b/3c+d

kind of a silly question, the way they complicate matters by not giving just numbers as the coordinates of the points
-it would be useful to demonstrate why we would express the coordinates in such a way in the first place, say because the points represent something that depends on some specific parameters for some reason

Don't no if you have studied Matrix Math?
I think but cannot remember - I think it was the first time I encountered a Math problem that could not end up with a Solution.
And its common with Matrix Math for even linear problems to end up without a Solution or One exact Solution OR and this happens more often to me than NOT - To many Solutions some of which may be useful in one of many other dimensions and one plugs away until one finds a Solution that works in our dimension.
One by the way can end up with infinitely many solutions. Non linear problems and Matrix problems with orthogonal vectors or in my slice of Electronics Engineering one hopes all the vectors are orthogonal, because one no's many are not and many are so one digs and digs to come up with complex computations that can deal with what we want to look like noise all of the time but of course its more signal then noise or its a call drop or bank balance fucked up.
Rambles and ready to roll out and climb under my breadboard set up and diddle with mechanical filters designed with Matrix Math and Mechanical as in machined parts because any attempt at solving the problems with CPU is still waiting for a huge jump in speed of CPU's and its going to be 2021 before such exists.
