Freenet sounds like a fine idea in theory, but I know why a lot of people use it. The idea of having gigs of data on my HD, encrypted or not, that may very likely be child porn just doesn't appeal to me.

There are other uses. Freetalk is cool, and worth trying out- you don't have to worry about CP as long as you don't subscribe to it.
People use Freenet for Wikileaks mirrors, and other cool things.

I used to, but it's not very pleasant to use, if you ask me.
