It says I installed the "anniversary version" of Windows.

Yes and I can't tell what the difference is, if anything.

No. I did it voluntarily and I have not missed anything from 7.

Well, I did like 7's aesthetics more but the glossy Aero look was so 2006.

I think the Win 10 Photo viewer is a huge improvement. I have friends who have located the Win7 viewer still inside the hard drive and have switched to it. If you need to blow up an image Win 10 version is 500% more better and right click on image allows some nice choices - If I save a file to the wrong file its super fast quick to move it to where I want it to be - Also image details are presented in a much better format.

Yeah. it gave me some fucking system advertisements from twitter (i don't even have a twitter) and it fucked up my 8 digit PIN that i used to get into my computer. now i have to type my whole damn microsoft account password. also the start menu has been modified to be (very) slightly less user friendly
it feels like a confusing and unnecessary and rude bloat update

It's a naked move to make the OS a vehicle to sell you shit through the fucking OS itself

My mom did. In spite of offering 10 to anyone with 7, an OS that is over 8 years old, 10 is not designed to be useful on 8 year old laptops. The screen real estate is abysmal. Also, they can't even implement proper support for jpeg decoding, and they still haven't managed to implement full integrated support for zip files.

Do you mean as compared to the start menu of Win 7?

Have you tried this?
Settings
Accounts

You will see Sign In options

You can reset your password

and You can reset your PIN

I don't think any Windows release has been good on 8 year old hardware. I mean that would be like installing Vista on a 1998 machine or XP on a 1993 machine.

I have 3 original IBM Think Pads with Win 7 and even when clients approve the switch I am not going to do that to the old machines.

also no i'm just talking about the latest windows 10 update. they smashed some icons to the side and made a useless expand button so you can... read what the smashed up icons are? it's just the shut down file explorer etc. thing. i don't even remember where it was before but i think it was probably better than this
i'll get used to it tho.

That is where Microshit turned in2 total shit with the loss of the start button for Win 8.1. MS in a fit to become a Mobile company - total compromise to desk top users which means no business of any reputation switched from Win 7 to Win 8
Not a single company I do business with moved over from Win 7 - I am being told it will be a couple of years b4 I can expect one of those companies to set me up with the Enterprise Win 10. Lots of US Gov stuff is still using XP and paying a fortune to MS to update XP.

I agree with ya. We set up our machines to be exactly the way we need them to be. Application this Software that Icon over here - Then MS comes along and messes it all up. At my age I just expect it to always be this way - About the time I have my machines exactly as I want them to be I can expect MS to fuck me over. AT LEAST AFTER ALL THESE YEARS THE O/S no longer gives Blue Screen of Death - I thought I had one but the MS Cloud picked up an urgent message from my O/S and MS silently took hold of the hardware and fixed the glitch over night - Just as I was working hard on backing the machine up - MS gives me a message the computer needs to shut down - When it came up it was working as I left it hours b4

Rambles as I am ready to finish some PERL and one minor design change - send it in to a group for review and bill them before they get anything to look at and THEN pour a drink and call it a nite
