tbh you're pretty wrong. to be blunt it's the ocean. specifically the ocean 2.5 billion years ago. called the Great Oxygenation Event, it was probably due to a slow rise in cyanobacteria over about a billion years. prior to this all bacteria were anaerobic extremophiles that lived on sulfates. that era built our atmosphere, and it happened entirely in the oceans. without that event in that part of the world current life would be impossible.
humans are just a small blip on the radar as far as time is concerned, and we've had a much smaller impact on the planet than even ancient bacteria. we've even extincted fewer species than some types of algae, but we caertainly haven't done anything on the magnitude of Terraforming a planet and evolving into all life on earth. so that little corner of the world isn't all that important if you're talking, like, impact on the entire planet.
now, if you're talking, like, biggest impact on human civilization over the last, say, 2000 years, i'd say "yeah, probably," but not much more than that. prove me wrong.
