Ironically enough it actually has a culinary origin. 'Rost' is the archaic and obsolete form of 'roast' and the 'eet' part is 'eat', i.e 'one who eats roasts'. It was a common name among either butchers or those who were rich/aristocratic enough to afford fresh meat for their meals on a regular basis. Like it or not, it's an upper class name.
