There was an episode of King of the Hill, where Ladybird was put on a vicious dogs list and when a 'dog spiritualist' lead Hank and his family to an old folks home a thunderstorm hit which was believed to be what triggered his dog into biting his hand. Well, the police and even the staff at the retirement home certainly did not hesitate to go to the last resort of killing the dog even though it was revealed she wasn't vicious. This leads me to believe Texans just hate animals.
