When all kinds of people are obsessed about something, for example in forms of jealousy. The justification for the obsession is always "it's true what I think! She is cheating on me!". It's always "it's true".
But perhaps the most important thing to remember is that reality is not concrete, that is your inner life, way of perceiving etc, it's not really related to truth. Like plenty of things are true but not all of them are obsessed about like the suspicion of your wife cheating on you.

I was discussing this very thing with an acquaintance today.
The short answer is: not many of the individuals supposedly officially labelled with the diagnosis are really of a broadly autistic phenotype as opposed to degenerated from years of trauma, abuse, and deliberate hazing by way of conspired isolation.
In which case the syndrome becomes more like C-PTSD (Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder).

Maybe the best thing to make those unfortunate people realize, is that it's not about how true or not it is regarding what they obsess about, but instead have them understand why they can't move on?
