I spent the last 5 years learning Chinese cuisine in China. MY next culinary destination is...India! That's right, I will be teaching in Varanasi, and learning Indian cuisine!!!

Curry powder and the contemporary English use of the word "curry" are Western inventions and do not reflect any specific South Asian food

I don't like Indian food. Mainly because a lot of it has cumin in it. I hate cumin. I'm not crazy on Mexican food for the same reason.

Also they don't do beef and a lot of it is vegetarian.

Great news for you

Any real Indian restaurant mixes spices per dish. Use Yelp to find a top reviewed Indian place near you and call and ask if you can be sure you do not end up with Cumin

No reason you should ever end up with it at a real place that mixes the spices to order

Mexican might be much harder re kitchen people might take offense at leaving Cumin out
