Families despite being seen as a source of nurture and care is actually a complex hierarchy where the members are constantly playing strategies against each other in a unconscious war. Things like gifts are for example ways of establishing power and superiority.

That's only true for the matriarchy. Men establish power and superiority through violence, aggression and intimidation. Snarky gifts are not really effective when ignored

No its the opposite. Why do you think there is so much more physical violence in the lower classes where many are raised by single mothers?

Women aren't very good at being fathers. They can't be mothers and threaten children with a fathers rage and discipline when they are the father as well.

I don't know about that but physical violence doesn't reassert power, it safe guards it. Power is power and should work as power, physical violence undermines that.
