School isn't even schooling anymore. The old gymnasia-esque models inherited from the rest of Europe used to typically give what would now be a 12-grade-level education in about 2/3rds that time (so you'd be educated to a secondary level by primary; as such, Hitler wasn't exactly undereducated for his time). This is because they knew that if you needed to 'build up' lower-level skills over really condescending repetitions then you were probably a retard.
Growing up in an era before the internet was a bloated distraction allowed me to do just that for myself. I'd neglected secondary studies until it mattered and focus just on cramming classical works over book-archival sites and Wikipedian screeds.
The current model is deliberately designed to burn out a certain number of highly sensitive individuals, allowing the lower-intelligent but more highly motivated psychopaths to exceed ahead.
