Really? Maybe it's a cultural thing. It's very common here, once you have a job and want to move out. Your parents act like landlords and when you fuck things up at least you don't get kicked out, learn a lesson etc
When you earn and have disposable income but do not have your own place you are expected to contribute to your costs. I guess we have less of a dependent manchild problem here.

I live with my mom. I don't pay rent but I don't feel guilty about that. When times where shitty back in the day, i would help out with my entire salary and almost not give a damn.

udem is cheap as fuuuuuck but it isn't downtown like the other 3 and is comparable to cost of living in an off-campus apartment

especialy given the mandatory meal-plan in first year
