Topic: The UK will have a second female prime minister. What a master stroke

Svet !jzYkdX7lIw started this discussion 10 years ago #53,671

Wow really well played Tories. A woman will lead the country through our EU divorce - women always end up on top of divorce settlements and any EU country trying to bully us will be labeled as a misogynist.

Fucking master stroke. We're like 5 moves ahead of the rest of Europe.

Theresa May is an evil witch.

No she isn't, and in fact she's the best chance Britain has of clearing up the mess that thick-as-pigshit Brexiters like you have created.

You seem mad. She wanted to abolish human rights and is pushing for the snoopers charter.

I see you've read your tabloid headlines today. Good boy. Listen up you alkie waster, you squeal now about human rights after voting to leave the EU on the basis of 'sending those fucking immigrants back where they came from!'. Fuck off you hypocrite.

Yeah, I am mad. Dickheads like you, who had nothing to lose because you've leeched off the state all your life, have fucked the country over because of your ignorant, ill-informed idea of how the EU works.

And by the way, could you stop writing like a Sun columnist? She didn't want to "abolish human rights" you bell-end, she wanted to abolish elements of the Human Rights Act, which is absolutely not the same thing. To put it in terms you'll perhaps understand, wanting to restrict the hours during which shops can sell alcohol is not the same as "wanting to abolish alcohol!!", is it now?

The UK observed human rights just fine without being ordered to by EU officials. THAT is what she is against. Interference in our sovereignty by unelected Euro ministers.

I get the impression that Leadsome is more right wing than May, and not in a good way. Has already said she didn't like gay marriage, also foolishly said that she wanted to trigger Article 50 immediately (but then apparently she backed away from that?).

But I don't think more low-substance right wing populism is what's needed. What the country needs is a steady pair of hands and a cool head. I think May has those traits. Not that I think she's perfect, just the best option for steering through this goddamn mess.

@699,308 (C)
And she's already said she won't pursue that goal now anyway. Is leaving human rights laws alone.

@699,307 (C)
It's scary that they might actually get their wish, what with the uncertainty around if EU nationals can stay here long-term.

Three of my colleagues at my current work placement are continental Europeans As well as doctors. And my project manager at University next year is a German. Right now I'm really hoping that they have UK citizenship.

This anti-immigration sentiment behind the Brexit won't just potentially kick out the Eastern European workers, it could kick out valuable professionals too. And cut down the numbers that come here in the future. A national brain drain.

We need to scrap the European Court of human rights and create a more simple British human rights act that can't be over rules by the mainlanders

How would you propose improving the rights of humans in the UK?

> How would you propose improving the rights of humans in the UK?

Make it more simple so they can't contradict each other. For example remove the right to a family life, if some extremist from Pakistan encourages some people to blow up a bus you can't deport him if he has a family life but that Trumps some people's right to security. Basically ditch the European Court of human rights

Deporting the whole family is what the brexit vote was about.

'Pakis', not 'Pakies'.

Which reminds me, you know what annoys me most about these fucking immigrants? They should of learned English before they come here but they didn't and now they don't speak it proper like what we do.

No she cannot fix what will be broken when 50 is invoked.

All the king's horses,
And all the king's men,
Couldn't put Humpty together again.
