Topic: If I get the opportunity to go to private school, should I go even if the school has religious aims?

My parents are considering getting me out of the hell-hole that is public schooling, but the nearby private academy is Christian-aimed >_< It's a subsidiary of a nearby relgious-ish college, which is why it's kinda religious.

You won't be forced to wake up early on Sundays, don't worry. Go to private school, get learned, ignore preacher, acquire better reccomendations, live better life. I don't really see a downside..

I'd do some research on the individual school first. See how people like it, the quality of the teachers, etc. I wouldn't let the religious aspect bother you unless it interferes with the instruction/college preparation or there are a lot of non-credit religious courses. Even with the latter, though, you could pick up some useful literary and philosophical insights.

I R not Christian yet I respect many who are. I think the bottom line for your decision is simple. One bet is that that private school will provide you a much better education then the school you are currently attending. How far away is this school? If some distance will your parents allow you to interview some of the current students? Don't remember where you live, but if its in Classmates.com territory? You can join the schools group with an alias handle and ask some pertinent questions. Even ask for details about how the Christian part of it effects those attending.
Buns later in life you can make choices and then change them. Prior to college you get one chance usually and in your case you now have an option.
Research it and find out all you can but please do yourself a favor and start out with an open mind. Kinda religious does not mean you have to accept anything.

I went to a catholic school, of course I'd have to sit through some prayers and shit but that was ok. Did the date as a double, picked friends who would switch with me, and ended up on one hell of a great date after all. Of course my mother ended up clueless.
Point of telling you this is...You may get pushed and I hate that as well, but often a little push might end up not so bad after all. Also remember and I bet you know this already. Those who call themselves Christians, they may read the good book from end to end, but they do not understand what is between the book covers.

I wish I knew Spanish. Where I live it would really be nice. Since its a Latin based language, Italian would be a snap. Spain is also one fantastic place to visit and Italy well Italy is beyond fantastic.
