There is a strong rumor going around that Nintendo's next console will use cartridges much like it's predecessors have instead of the more standard CD-ROM / DVD / Blu-Ray disks.
Are cartridges really better that it's worth re-visiting?

If NX is using cartridges I will buy one. Cartridges are better physically because they are tougher and scratch resistant compared to discs. They don't hold as much data though and are an obscure format.

They couldn't hold a lot because they were limited by the technology of the day. Now 64GB flash drives are the size of your thumb.

They would be more fun to collect and put on a shelf. Also they don't scratch.
If they Nintendo does do that it should be combined with a digital store though.

But sometimes digital copies suck. Like any virtual console title. I wouldn't trust Nintendo with my digital games.
