I saw these two videos kind of about that some time ago and I want to tell about this concept as i understand it.
Some wonder how a religion can in anyway emancipate anyone and that's in some ways fair but the short answer is that because of various of things like culture, morality and circumstances etc.. It's not possible to simply stop believing but instead a sort of a shift in the dynamics of religious beliefs is needed in some sort of a complex way which has to do with ideology.
Here calvinism comes in. The freeing nature of calvinism is in their interpretation of Christianity. They believe that you either have salvation from god or you don't and there is nothing you can do to earn it or lose it, it's all up to God and only god.
So what calvinism does is taking power away from the people that for example scare you with ideas of hell, or instead maybe lure you in with promise of virgins in the after life.
Most importantly it could undue damage done on people's minds, by corrupted priests for example. In their minds they could constantly be monitoring themselves to please god or something when in reality they are monitoring their minds accordance to the corrupted priest.
Anyway it's pretty cool.

You always believe in silly things. It's not like people go around being 100% rational all the time, we have individuality and with that subjective bias that always gets materialized by thougts and silly beliefs. It's our spontaneous relationship with the world and not actually experienced as belief or "opinions" most of the time.
Anyway, it might be that we as humans have a need for silly beliefs to maintain a great deal of other beliefs such as human rights and the will for freedom

The problem people have with unlimited atonement, and salvation for the elect is that it implies that some people are predestined to hell, and that makes people sad.
However, I dont really believe the idea of partial depravity (needed to justify Arminianism) makes a whole lot of sense scripturally, also an imperfect God would not die in vain (necessary if the concept of "free will" is to be believed.) Not to mention the logical inconsistency pointed out by atheists who admittedly have a point.
But yes, false christians can easily be dismissed with Calvinism, though calvinism also teaches a complete departure from culture, whereas the more popular Arminian philosophies attempt to exist within it as part of partial depravity (there may be some good.)
