Something I've never understood about planes - if it's true that the Earth is spinning at 1040 miles per hour, then why when a plane takes off and then lands 4 hours later has it not landed 4160 miles from where it started? Or, for that matter, why if I now leave my house and jump into the air, will I not land in Idaho?

Even I know that, it's because the plane is in the earth's gravitational field.

This has never been answered by so called "scientists" and is in fact one of the strongest pieces of evidence for a flat, stationary earth at the center of the universe.

Are you aware that motion is impossible because every point in the universe is filled with something? What you are doing is merely experiencing the illusion of movement.

@694,617 (C).

Relativity. The plane has travelled that distance but from your relative point of view it appears you have travelled much less.

@694,617 (C)
Previous poster is correct. Relativity. More specifically, it is related to your geostationary orbit.

It's much like every point in every argument is already full of bullshit, and you are just experiencing the illusion of making an argument.

I was sat in the front row; seat 1B, & the ground staff got on the plane after a while and signed off on it before the delay got too ridiculous, after checking that the cabin crew were happy for him to fly also.
They call us SLF, you know? It stands for Self Loading Freight.
The pilot apologised for the lateness due to a 'seating discrepancy'. It probably happens a couple of times a day -- a passenger losing their boarding pass while in the waiting area at the gate.

that sucks. one time i was booked to board a plane, and i was slightly in the end of the row at check-in, and when it was finally my turn they said the plane was full and i wouldn't be able to fly. even though i had already booked and everything. so obviously i asked them wtf why and they wouldnt tell me at first and tried to get me to be ok with not boarding the plane which i obviously wasnt. then at some point they said there was something about a baby using an extra seat and i told them that was unacceptable because i had already booked. they grudgingly started looking into it, found out it was a dude with a broken leg claiming a second seat... somehow. then i was carted across the airport in one of those little cars they have, boarded the plane and it took off 5 minutes later. there was also still an empty seat.
