Two arguments against that:
1.) The bread is connected. It's a single continuous piece of bread.
2.) A sandwich without the bread would no longer be called a sandwich. It would be called turkey, ham, or whatever. But a hot dog without the bun would still be called a hot dog.
Thanks

So hoagies aren't sandwiches?

If it were sandwiched between something other than bread, would it be a sandwich?

only in the metaphorical sense in that the dog is "sandwiched" in between the halves of the bun, like a dude sandwiched between two dudes in a gay fuck swandwich
