@previous (B)It's fair to say that Emerald is being manipulated by Cinder. Em was "loved by no one" according to her song, and Cinder is clearly leveraging that need for affection.
Nonetheless, I think that one must keep in mind that Emerald is still a very immoral person all on her own. She taunted Tukson before killing him, and joked about it with Mercury. She also showed a clear joy when assaulting Amber, a stranger, and casually pickpocketed the unfortunate shopkeeper guy. Cinder didn't make her do that stuff.
Regardless of all that, I think that Emerald is arguably the most complex villain so far, and a well-written character in general. I very much look forward to seeing her again in Volume 4!
