Okay, maybe I won't be so sarcastic because you're generally alright. I just think, that participating is important. Fair enough if you personally don't feel any candidate deserves your vote, but no need to belittle those that do want to vote for somebody.

metae lives in texas, and this state has been gerrymandered like a picasso painting. districts are fucked here, some are made up of several parts, they're not even all one area. they've fucked the districts up so bad that having an opinion doesn't matter. texas is going to lean conservative, as it always does, in presidential elections. even though a significant portion of the state is liberal, it doesn't matter. every electoral vote will be conservative. it's just how they've rigged it here. sure, the cities can be liberal and have liberal local politics, but when it comes to federal stuff the game is stacked.
participating in a democracy is fine, but when they drown out your participation then are you really participating in anything? i'm tired of going through the motions and having to listen to people argue for years over something no one has any control over. hillary or trump. yeah, lot's of good fucking choices there. but like i said it doesn't matter, the state is drawn conservative. such is life. i have nothing to participate in except a national delusion that we've got some kind of choice.
and it's not even a matter of them deserving a vote, it's that my vote doesn't matter for shit because we've been cheated out of having a vote that matters. vote, don't vote, doesn't matter. all that matters is electoral votes. not your actual vote.

if they would remap the districts based on population alone then texas would be a swing state. there was a very interesting dissection of the districts in texas a few years ago in the Dallas Morning News and basically it showed that the state is very much split, but, because they have redrawn districts and rolled liberal areas into larger, more conservative districts, the liberal voice is routinely shut down. the only areas where that isn't the case is in large cities, Dallas, Houston, Austin, basically. large cities tend to be liberal, but also redistricting was much more of a rural thing. so, pretty much most people where i live and most people i know will probably vote for the Democrat. but it won't make a lick of difference.
