...when dealing with questions such as gay marriage or gender segregated bathrooms? Why not just be honest and say "I hate fags and trannies, and the idea of two dudes getting married or some fat ugly cross-dresser using a women's toilet really grosses me out". Surely telling the truth would be much easier than pretending to care about children you don't actually give a shit about.

I can see that parents of young children would have legitimate concerns when it comes to the gender segregated bathroom issue. However, if someone is simply grossed out by the idea, they should come out and say it. They shouldn't use children as an excuse to promote their sense of revulsion.
