Yeah it's not super likely. Romney got 27% of the latino vote and carried it by about 15 points. Lets say Trump does worse (since he has a 90% unfavorability rating among latinos) and gets 15%, and the conservative white vote goes 5% for Johnson, or stays home, I could see repubs winning the state by only 8 points which is absolutely pants-shittingly scary if you are a repub. That's what I'm hoping for anyway.

Its all so totally crazy. Now with Trump saying the ethnicity of Judges count on cases before them, and he makes it all and only about Trumps self interests, that will excite a lot of uneducated white men. He needs a lot more of the uneducated. Most are not registered yet. Its possible he can fire up enough racists and cover the losses of Latinos the party said it need to win a future election.

Interesting the way messaging has changed the past few years. Ted Cruz is a "religious freedom" candidate and Hillary is the best candidate for "gun safety". Why can't people say what they mean? Why can't Cruz just say "I hate gays" and Hillary say "I hate guns"?

I think Ted Cruz hates gays. Maybe not in the Nazi death camp way but I think he genuinely is totally grossed out by and dislikes gays and would like to restrict their civil rights. I think Hillary hates private gun ownership and wants to eliminate it. Not all at once, cause that would never work, but in a gradual baby steps way.
