Yes they are, but the one Walter is referring to isn't a Saab, it's an obscure Subaru from when both brands were owned by GM. Snobby Saab owners look down on them.

My bestestest friends brother in law from SF drives a 9-3 convertible from the last year of production.

Years ago I attended a Auto show. They had a Miata with what they said contained a Wanker rotary engine. Apparently the Wankers were not used in Miata's. The one is show and they made it clear it was for display only, was installed and converted to run on hydrogen. I asked the engineer how the heck they could install the heavy hydrogen tanks on such a small car and he shrugged and walked away.

There was one engine on a table for display, and no one could tell me if that one had been converted to run on hydrogen, which I imagine might not be such a big deal but this stuff is way out of my area of expertise. I once converted a Bar-B-Q from propane to house gas. Just had to drill six holes a little larger and remove the pressure regulator on the Q. Easy to do.
