Seeing Danny Carey live is a thing to behold. He's very solid. Not the best but very innovative. Adam Jones' wife normally coordinates their live shows in the lighting booth, little known fact.

Seeing Tool live is damn near spiritual. That's coming from an Atheist. Danny's style and delivery just do it for me. I'm not a drummer (guitarist), but I would take him over Neil any day. It's the same reason I'd take Kerry King over Yngwie. I understand there's a question of talent there, but not enough to sway my opinion.

It's mostly dependent on style, sure. I'm not much of a drummer, rather bass. I can see where you are coming from there, though.

At the end of the day you cannot question someone's taste. Still, if you've seen Tool live and don't think it's The Best Live Performance you could possibly see, I will call you a faggot and not let you near my children.
I've seen them thrice and will see them again when they come back to Orlando... in 8 years or so.

Their visual performance is spectacular, sure. They have great graphics which go on their side screens, however the only complaint I had was the last time I saw them Maynard didn't have much of a stage presence like he's sometimes prone to, instead all he did was hangout in the back of the stage singing and moving around in his little spot. I think he sometimes waxes and wanes for the theatrical, though. I really would have loved to have seen him perform with A Perfect Circle.

I have the privilege of being an old fucker for once. I first saw Tool when I was 14 and they were opening for The Offspring, if you can believe that. I then saw them at Ozzfest in 1999. Best Performance Ever. Then I saw them in 2002. Maynard's stage presence had diminished at this point to him pretty much being a statue on stage. However, they still sounded fucking amazing and gave me my money's worth. I love Tool. Anyone who disagrees is more than welcome to get punched in the dick should we ever meet in public.
