I took a bunch of basic Psychology courses in school - Wood have been more but with my Engineering major and law classes there was not time.
I gained a lot of respect for those who practice the art because I was in a relationship with a super gal who disclosed she had been raped. Later I asked if she ever got help and she said NO
So I was close to the Santa Monica Rape Crisis center and dropped on in to discuss and then talked her into going to talk - Later as a couple we both attended sessions separate and together with PhD Psycho types - all helpful all quality
Later we transitioned to paying for our own - again together and separate - She had hers and I had mine - Sure made the relationship more better - Alas in the end she had a level of problems that I could not deal with but damn while it was good it was GREAT - Lasted about 3 1/2 years and ended by needing two Swat Teams on from Police and one from Sheriff - Two Helicopters and later the Homicide squad and Car theft cops - However the ending as horrid as that was - I wood not trade those 3 1/2 years for anything other than the last 5 weeks - 3 of which were vacations to Islands like Jamaica for the Nude beaches and Haiti which was well it ended up as cause of me saying this relationship has to go by by
Anyway I have deep respect for Psychologists and Psychiatrists - Never went to a Psychiatrists - Was in a relationship with one and damn that is a story for some other time about how people of that profession can be so blind as to their own major problems. Her problem later ended up on the TV news and Newspapers about a year after my relationship was over.

I had this girl I knew casually for a number of years start coming on to me really strong just before I started going to college for a psychology program. Every time I would come back home she would be really insistent about spending time to together, and she would be all over me when we would go out somewhere. One night we were talking about keeping in touch with people we used to date. She mentions she has most of their contact info still and then pulls out a sheaf of 20-30 business cards. She starts going through them and every fucking one of them is a psychologist or psychiatrist.
