I am trying to figure this out. I set the encoding to JTS(sp?) and nothing. The tripcode tester isn't even close. What am I doing wrong?

Some do, some don't. You just have to try all of them, until you find one that works with MC.

Japanese characters tend not to work so you have to exclude them when searching

Most of the time they work if you convert them to the right encoding. You can do this using notepad++ for example. Put in your tripcode from the program you're using to search for them, then encoding -> character sets -> japanese -> shift-jis
