Topic: How do I plant seeds in Rust?

Catherine !TGirlYJKXM started this discussion 10 years ago #52,373

I Google'd and nobody seemed to fucking just flat out tell anyone with this question how to do it. They tell how to acquire seeds, but not how to actually fucking plant them.

This is pissing me off.

Do I left click the ground with seeds selected in my hotbar?

Whenever I do that it just throws and wastes the seed.

Googling "rust planting seeds" brings up a wiki page about corn seeds as the first result. It says:
To place seeds which will result in a corn plant (on which corn will grow), you need to put the seeds in your hotbar and then left-click somewhere on the ground. It's a good idea to choose a hot, sunny and watery place to put the seeds at. There, plants grow better.

There are probably YouTube videos too. Are you trying to place them in a cold/snow biome?

I'm near a river and a snowy mountain, but I'm not anywhere near the latter.

It just throws the seeds when I left-click.

Are you sure you are left clicking and not right clicking? Right click throws.

I left clicked and it threw. Right clicking does nothing for me.

I left click and I just see plant spew everywhere when it hits the ground.

Turns out, I was doing it right the whole time, but how long does it take for crops to mature?
