This isn't really used a lot in actual philosophy. You'll generally just refer to the school of thought that's relevant. So a philosopher isn't "continental", she's a Kantian, a moral realist, a communitarian, a many worlds theorist, an internalist etc. If you want to think about continental vs analytic, you can think of it as the anglosphere tradition (Russel, WVO Quine, Putnam, maybe Kripke?) vs the continental European tradition (Foucault, Derrida, Hegel maybe).

that's an interesting question. i did my senior thesis on continental philosophy vs analytic philosophy, and pretty much the biggest difference is how much math they use.

In a nutshell, yes. Continental philosophy (that continent being Europe) covers things like existentialism and metaphysics. The analytic tradition (more American) is logic based.
