As graphics got better and better, gameplay got worse and worse, and then even graphics went to shit as cell phone games became so popular that their shitty graphics started spilling over in the PC and console game market. The market is saturated with shitty, rehashed first person shooters. Video games these days are like pop music. All the video game companies use shitty formulas to pump out anything that will make a few bucks like clockwork. They're going to shit for the same reasons music and movies have gone to shit. MMOs have become way too grindy and just use the same quest mechanics over and over. Micro-transactions and DLC have become a scam. None of the games tell a good story anymore. WOW is now 11 years old and still no one has been able to topple it from its throne, and it's not even that great.
Portal 2 is the only game I've truly enjoyed in the past few years. It seems like nothing is even worth the time anymore. When DOOM comes out this Friday it better be good, or might just rage quit video games altogether.

no like its already more entertaining and fleshed out than other spaceflight games but yeah it also has potential to be a good mmo and fps on top of that

Not me, but there is some truth to what OP is rambling about. However, there are still plenty of good games out there. You just have to look for them, now.

it kind of sucks having to spend like 20 buck to try a game that might be good that's probably still in alpha but a lot of those games look kinda cool! i just dont feel like spending money so I don't buy games

Things have improved, I think. These days you can usually watch YouTube videos to get an idea of a game. And Steam's refund policy essentially gives every game a demo, just refund if you don't like it.

I got a game I didn't like once and I played it for like 20 minutes but I left the load box start up window thing open while I did other stuff so It said I had played for three hours and I didn't get a refund

I tend to stay away from new games, if it looks interesting, I'll buy it on sale. I mostly stick to retro games, and buy humble bundles when there's a title bundled that I'm interested in.

i've been playing the Overwatch beta. it's really fun! i'll probably end up buying it. i heard people calling it "team fortress 3" but it's still fun even if it's kind of a clone. i've been enjoying support roles the best, healing is pretty fun in overwatch. took playing a bunch of heros before i found one i really like, but there's a ton of them and they all play differently.

DLC. Seriously. Look at PS2 games. They are classics and playable today. Why? Because the whole fucking game is on a disc. They were tested and had all the content on disc. Now everything is going digital. 'Fuck it, we can release our game in the beta stage because we will just install a patch later. We will sell the game half finished so we can work on the DLC for people to download later'. GTA 5 is nowhere near as good as San Andreas, Rockstar are selling out just so they can focus on online. Gaming is only going to get worse until cartridges and discs Playstation, Nintendo 64 I love the original Spyro trilogy.
