The cheese is WAY too creamy. There is honestly no reason to do anything besides Kraft Mac & Cheese. I even get mad about their "deluxe" mac and cheese. It's shit.

It is too creamy. Krafts "deluxe" is pure shit. I can't eat it. I will buy a pint of milk and a couple boxes of normal craft.

I like to boil the macaroni, then add a few tablespoons of butter and stir, then grate some nice extra extra sharp cheddar (I like Cabot brand) and mix it in.
Sometimes I do the above and add the contents of the powder cheese envelope.
Oh also you can cook a couple strips of pepper bacon and chop it up and put it in (save the grease!).

Fuck yes.
I enjoy making my own cheese sauce and baking the mac and cheese. (sharp cheddar and Gouda are awesome in the right quantities) But that shit takes time, prep, and clean up that adds up to a lot of work. (oh fuck, the clean up from all that... baked-on cheese stuck to sauce pans and baking dishes everywhere)
At the end of the day when I just want something fast then a little Kraft with butter, heavy cream, and sharp cheddar added in definitely does the trick. Sometimes I add peppers because the spicy can sometimes compliment the savory if you do it right.

Soak the cheese in vinegar or baking soda for a bit
Really any stuck on organic material is hella easier to clean up after that

I understand that soaking the dishes helps. I often do it. It just doesn't make the process any quicker when I get home from work at night.
Thank you for the tip about baking soda though. I'm going to try that. I usually just use dish soap.

Not just soap/water tho. Vinegar or baking soda because ones an acid and ones a base. Either will denature the proteins in the organic matter and soften it the fuck up.

Not really. One more mostly satire reply - I have tasted the fake Mac+Cheese. I have tasted the real thing in a restaurant. A sample from another at the table. If its pasta and cheese then its Italian and I love serious good Italian cooking. I adore Eu cheeses. In USA real cheese is that which one buys in stores and its made in Eu. NOT that everything can be imported. USA has a hate about Cheeses from Eu made from raw milk. So its very difficult to get the not made for USA consumption by Eu - Back rooms of serious cheese shops however do supply the EU versions.
There are exceptions. Goat cheeses in USA hand made are famous for winning awards all over the world. American Artisan Cheesemakers are finding a market here. Just like fyne wine it took USA a lot of time to do wot the French were doing for centuries - Even on occasion shocking the world with world class winning product.
We are however far far behind Eu on cheese making - Where you live you can walk into any store and buy the real thing - Here much more difficult.

My 3 day Cajun/Blues/Zydeco festival is over and now looking forward to a Greek festival. More Feta than I have a clue wot to do with. I always eat it at the festivals and rite in my own hood we have a Greek Church but I always buy lots of olives and many go dry in frig and lots of Feta and end up tossing a lot of Feta - but I will sure buy more and later dispose of so much

That's because EU had all these food traditions established for hundreds of years before the government got big enough to start regulating things like food safety, so when it was established, the culture took precedence over regulations. USA was a brand new country filling up with all sorts of different people and had no collectively shared food history so the government was allowed to be more strict about what is and isn't safe to serve practices.
Of course, the irony of it all is that the safe serve laws require all food that has been sent to a table and left must be thrown away, where the poor and hungry dig through filth to find the food and eat it in spite of the unsanitary conditions, rather than allowing restaurants to box the unwanted food and give it the needy in a much more sanitary manner.
Because, you know, homeless people can totally afford to bring frivolous lawsuits against restaurants when they get sick eating food they didn't pay for.
tl;dr FUCK YEAH BACON

San Diego is not a city famous for its food. Yet with tenacity one can find great stuff - Not like LA or San Francisco.
We even have a Mac and Cheese Festival coming up around the end of this year. Last year they hit people up for $35 and the event sold out way in advance. Not a festival I wood attend.
Photo is just one I found on web from a classy joint that has a version that is severed in a Martiny glass for the low price of $14. Could not find the price of the larger size. Think about it - If one goes out and buys the best of cheeses, the end results will be more better than the Fake cheese that in USA is most popular. USA obsessed with fake tits and fake cheese.

Yea but its crispy on top crunchy at bottom and creamy innards - Give me this pasta dish any day
Fettuccine Alfredo
Or even cappellini cooked most perfect n not one second more. With grated Romano and a touch of garlic with fresh basil leaves- Super simple super quick with a side of fresh tomatoes with same touch of garlic black pepper and basil leaves. ULTRA Fast to make and a dish that does not make heart surgeons happy. Heart Surgeons buy boats and planes paid for by people who eat Mac n Cheese.
