Topic: Technically, suicide is VERY expensive

Denmark guy !jJEom8Ii3E started this discussion 10 years ago #52,068

No such thing as a 20 dollar suicide, because you have to take account of the income lost by not being able to work (because you dead) which means that you are better off just living until you die, it's cheaper.

No you don't (because you dead)

Just because you dead doesn't mean you have not made a bad financial decision. Which basically was a very expensive decision.

It doesn't cost you anything, you will just stop gaining money after you killed yourself at which point it does not matter because you, indeed, dead.

Wouldn't that mean that being dead is infinitely expensive because of all the days you could have spent making money?

What if you could live an infinitely extra amount of days? I talked to this guy, Ben Green, about living forever by jumping time loops. He started a religion called recursivism or racialism or something. I think it involved reptilians.

That's true but the price for this is death, death being the loss of income forever. So technically you over paid all of your expenses.

Can I afford it?

That's a universe that exists despite you claiming there is no cost to not earning money. The cost is the money you don't earn.

There is an opportunity cost for every economic decision but there are no EXPENSES in this one. You don't SPEND the difference in income by earning less money than you did before.

Earning less =/= spending more

You are abusing the word "cost". Fuck. Let's say you earn $3000/month. Your rent + utilities + food + transportation (your EXPENSES) total $1500, and so your disposable income is $1500. Let's say you decide to work at a job that now pays only $2000/month. Your EXPENSES are UNCHANGED. they are still $1500/month. What has changed is your INCOME has DROPPED meaning you have less disposable income. FUCK. You have $1000 less to spend but you aren't spending any more. Income. Down. Expenses. Same.

my mom killed herself

indeed the money stopped coming in to her account. she had no assets or stock dividends to live off of so no more income for mom.

her funeral ended up costing money - i think her husband (not my father) paid for it

i think he also paid for the outstanding amount of money she owed to the credit card companies so he didnt get caught with the bad debt

her husband ended up selling the house they bought together

he ended up having to buy a new house but I don't know the amount of money he got from the house

there was no insurance to be had so I got nothing from my mom for her death.

so take it what you will
