The sign was actually different in reality, as the "niggers" was computered in in post-production for the movie. Not really important to your question, but it's some trivia there for everybody to enjoy

I don't think they should, but the law protects them anyway. Same way it protects the loonies at Westboro Baptist Church when they picket military funerals with "Thank god for dead soldiers." Can't say I think it's right, but that's the Constitution; you gotta take the good with the bad.
