Topic: Can someone explain to me all the transgender stuff on minichan right now?

I am so out of the loop right now I don't really understand what the big deal is. Can someone give me a summary so I can get caught up? Perhaps meta or killer lettuce can fill me in.

Minichan is a hotbed for bigots and transgender issues are catching on in mainstream discussions and politics so
Its a breakthrough/backlash kinda thing

There's not really some huge, complicated history to get caught up on.
Transsexuals, as you may know, are a controversial topic, these days. Some Minichanners are critical of them. Some have a positive opinion of them. Some don't give a shit. Some just use them as troll bait.
As is standard for chan websites, this has led to several repetitive arguments and trolling on the subject.

Some people think that it is their defining and most important characteristic and insist on bringing it up constantly. These people also seem to lack any level of self-awareness and are mostly just interested in being the center of attention. Tests to determine the effect or causation of the two conditions have so far been inconclusive.

I'm still trying to get them. Which is why I am awaiting a callback from my physician. I've been in therapy for 2 years, but I feel confident that this is what I want to do. I've been thinking of self-medicating if I need to, but I'd rather be supervised by a professional.

I was merely a humble YouTube commenter (still am) until I decided to follow an spam advertisement leading to "AnonTalk" where I spent sometime. Meet a pedo in their chat that told me to keep my "delicious flat chest" too. Kimmo was currently at war with 4chan and with the combination of this plus FOX News' little "4chan is evil" story. I was a little nervous to check out the place. Until I realized I was on a forum segregated for pedophiles that I determined that 4chan couldn't be all that bad. So I ended up on /co/ then other boards until I saw somebody post Tinychan on /g/.

No I do not believe in any of those many Gods. However Billions of people do.
If you chose to cos-play as a fire hydrant I fully support your right to do that. You can paint yourself yellow and use your penis to put out fires. Or you can role play the other gender if you want to.
You're totally free to be an actor.
Back in Shakespeare's time women were not allowed to be actors so men played that role by cos-play- Not much has really changed for the role players of today. Other than slice and dice to convert a pole into a hole. Its still a man made part.

It sure sounds like you believe in them. You choose to hate a certain group of people using that as a reason.
Cos-play and transitioning are two different things, period. Crossdressing and transitioning are two different things. One is done for kicks, one is done out of necessity. People don't choose to be gay and likewise people don't choose to be trans (those are crossdressers or transvestites). All of the transgendered people I know wish they could have been born normal but can't be.
It doesn't matter what anyone thought about in the 16th century. This is the 21st century, get with the times. Basing your argument off of that makes it void in itself.

Actors should be free to act. Not so sure I want a pedophile guy putting on make up and a wig to get into a girls bathroom on a play ground. I wood hate to see that happen.
So you agree with me > All of the transgendered people I know wish they could have been born normal but can't be.

I live in California so you'd think it'll be easier to get them. Of course, we tend to think of ourselves as a "socially responsible" state so they might make you jump through hoops in an attempt to make sure you're serious. IC clinic? Do you mean informed consent clinic? If so, I tried Googling for ones near by and I cannot seem to find any. I would like to discuss this with my physician but they have yet to call me back. I'm going to call them tomorrow, roughly 2 weeks from when I came in and 1 week from when I called them back. If they don't do anything then I will be returning to their clinic.
I guess one benefit from being in California is that I do not have to worry about restroom laws since I think we're the inverse of North Carolina.

You should be able to find an IC clinic easy. Called any of the abortion clinics around you, dollars to donuts they have an IC program. Yes I mean informed consent. Planned parenthood does it too. They do not really advertise it however. Your doctor probably doesn't know where to send you.
@674,113 (F)
I am not putting down crossdressers or transvestites, It is a fetish for them however, there is no getting around it. If that is what makes them happy that is fine but it is not the same as being transgender.
Calling yourself a liberal does not negate the fact that you are nothing more than a bigot pretending to be tolerant. 60 years ago it wasn't normal to be in an interracial marriage, 20 years ago it wasn't normal to be gay and in a gay marriage. The world is changing and you can either support that change or start voting republican. Because you really sound like one.

I don't just "fix" cars. I make them better. I make them the cars they should have been out of the factory. Sometimes people come out of their factory with wiring for the opposite gender. Science recognizes being transgender as a legitimate medical diagnosis for the cause of one's depression. They are even considering removing GID as a psychiatric diagnosis from the DSM-V. You praise science yet science says these people are normal after being given HRT. Youre arguement is such bullshit you resort to ad hominem which negates your argument.
You and people like you refuseto listen to what medical professionals and scientists alike are saying because science is telling you that you are wrong, your argument is wrong, and your beliefs are wrong.

Apparently you don't want people who aren't "normal" in your world view to be happy or else you wouldn't have any problems with them.
You used the word "tranny" right there that shows me you don't know anyone who is trans because you would know how offensive that is to transgendered people. You however do not care because how transgender people feel is irrelevant to you. You are the literal problem with this country and why people hate us. If you were really liberal, if you really wanted people to be happy you would support their change. You wouldn't call them pigs wearing lipstick, You would accept people are different than you and deserve to pursue their own happiness.
They cannot find acceptance because Neo-cons like you make them feel unwelcome. They commit suicide not because they are unhappy, but because they just want to be accepted by people and treated the same as before and aren't. There is nothing wrong with them and yet you demonize and vilify them for something they cannot help. You are what is wrong with this country, not them.

Yes I used the word Tranny. Now your kinda new here - And yes I remember you from the past. But back then I doubt I refereed to Muslims as Rag Heads which I currently do.
That said I wood place a huge bet that I no far far far more Muslims than anyone here. I live in a H1B Visa Empire. For over a decade I worked with 10,000+ of them and currently consult for that company. All Electronics - All wireless in specialty. And I surf daily with Rag Heads who work in the H1B Biology side of Visa Empire. Huge number of Rag Head students just South of me at UCSD and East of me at UCSD.
Many many friends who are Rag Heads - True its not exactly a term I use when I am around them BUT - Guess wot? If they are married the wives have Rags on head - The Engineers NEVER - But they do have prayer rugs in their offices.
Take me with a grain of salt when I use terms like Trannies or Transvestites - AND to point out I R not perfect nor running for 2nd cumming of Jesus Christ
> You however do not care because how transgender people feel is irrelevant to you.

Just no. I don't know why your sort of car people gets so uppity about Honda, the horrible mechanical reliability and laughable powertrains of Americans cars of that era (i.e. a 5.0 putting out less than 150hp, if my memory serves correctly) forced consumers to go elsewhere. People that bought Hondas in the 80s and 90s ended up with something safer, sportier, and cheaper to own.
And that's to say nothing of the droll styling or God awful interiors domestic manufacturers continued to shit out.
There are literally no desirable domestic cars from when I grew up. Things have changed an awful lot since then, and now it's nearly impossible to walk into a Ford dealership and walk out without a great automobile, but disrespecting the marque that forced everyone from Ferarri (with the NSX) to Ford to drastically raise their quality and ergonomics is weird. Don't you like cars?

You think that one small group of people represents the whole transgender community? Are you sure they are transgender? Are they transvestites or male prostitutes?
Wow, you literally looked up the definition because you couldn't refute what I said, even you couldn't define normal off the top of your head. Guess what, having hormones in your body is normal. Being a girl is normal. Having hair on your face is normal, having hair on your chest is normal. What is abnormal is getting so upset about other people wanting to be happy.

A large-scale 2011 study from the Netherlands found treated transsexuals had much higher than normal death rates due to suicide, drug abuse, AIDS, and so on. Then again, other studies have concluded that while post-ops have high suicide rates, pre-ops’ are even higher.
“People who have gender identity disorders . . . are just dudes dressing up as chicks and/or dudes who have gotten a doctor to mutilate them to have imitation female genitalia (or [the other way around for women], I guess.) . . . GID patients have a mental illness and society should be looking into ways to eradicate that mental illness through some form of treatment that isn’t the equivalent of giving a paranoid schizophrenic who thinks he’s Napoleon a bicorn hat and a saber.”
Standard medical opinion is that transsexuals are mentally ill. The revised fourth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders offers a long description of gender identity disorder that boils down to this: You think you’re the wrong sex, and you’re not happy about it. The International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems calls it transsexualism and defines it this way: “A desire to live and be accepted as a member of the opposite sex, usually accompanied by a sense of discomfort with, or inappropriateness of, one’s anatomic sex, and a wish to make his or her body as congruent as possible with the preferred sex through surgery and hormone treatment.”
Fact is, most transsexuals agree there’s something wrong with them. The difference is they think it’s with their bodies, while unsympathetic outsiders say it’s with their heads.
The professional view of transsexuality is evolving. DSM-V, currently under development, proposes replacing gender identity disorder with “gender dysphoria.” From what I can see this is mostly an exercise in euphemism: You still think you’re the wrong sex, and you’re still not happy about it. But others think the whole notion of transsexuality as a disorder should be abandoned. For example, in 2009 the French health ministry declared it would no longer classify transsexualism as a psychiatric condition.
Not to get all peace-and-love about it, but the core issue really is unhappiness. DSM-III dropped the old classification of homosexuality as a disorder because of the dawning realization that whatever gays and lesbians might be unhappy about, it wasn’t about being gay or lesbian as such—the main issue was social disapproval. In contrast, even with all the social acceptance in the world, transsexuals are still going to think they’re the wrong sex.
Why they do so is unknown. Some researchers think a percentage of transsexuals have an underlying physiological condition, essentially a wrong-gendered brain. Regardless, few in the field believe transsexual impulses can be eradicated or cured. The choices are some combination of hormones and surgery, or else you just deal.
The surgery part is what makes some people recoil. They cite another condition listed in the DSM, body integrity identity disorder, characterized by the wish to have a part of your body amputated, typically the left arm or leg. You don’t see anybody claiming BIIDers are paragons of mental health and doctors should merrily saw away. But another way to look at it is that sex reassignment surgery or hormone treatment is more like a full-body tattoo. Would I do it? No, but I don’t much care if other people do.
The question is whether reassignment makes transsexuals happy. Most studies say yes, but that conclusion was questioned by the U.K. newspaper the Guardian in 2004. The paper commissioned the Aggressive Research Investigative Facility (ARIF) at the University of Birmingham to review the medical reports. ARIF’s conclusion: Most studies of SRS outcomes were fatally flawed, the major failing being that a huge percentage of SRS patients dropped out of sight.
For example, one study found that of 727 subjects who had undergone male-to-female SRS, 539 had a known address. Of the 417 who were still alive, 355 agreed to participate. Of the 232 who actually returned their forms, 86 percent rated their “happiness with result” at 8 or higher on a 10-point scale.
You can spin this any way you want. The responders are a pretty satisfied group, but what’s up with the nonresponders?
Some are surely dead. A large-scale 2011 study from the Netherlands found treated transsexuals had much higher than normal death rates due to suicide, drug abuse, AIDS, and so on. Then again, other studies have concluded that while post-ops have high suicide rates, pre-ops’ are even higher.

There is actually a production car sold without power steering, the Alfa Romeo 4C. It's like a half pint exotic. It is ultralightweight, rather affordable, and completely uncomfortable.
I bought my current car in part because of Alfa Romeo. While in Italy the 159 caught my eye. I loved the lines, especially from a front and rear three quarter view. The TL of my generation is surprisingly similar in style and execution.
When it's time to buy another car I think I'll strip all of the creature comforts out of mine to get it light enough to remove the power steering and save it for occasional flogging on my favorite back roads or at track days.

You just picked and chose certain quotes from a document that did not support your argument at all.
I wonder how much of the population is satisfied with their bodies? 88% of people were satisfied with their bodies after the SRS. You using 1 anecdotal experience with a surgeon suddenly proves everyone is unhappy being transgender. Right? That was in the UK where health treatment at large for transgender patients is poorer than in the US. I have had no issues with my doctor treating me. You are relying on one off results and throwing that our group at large. Hoping something sticks to your strawman arguement. Most stop using drugs, most who transition are happier than before, Most are more comfortable with their bodies after transitioning. The only thing that causes anxiety and general malaise is people like you giving them grief. Telling them they are not normal and that something is wrong with them. You are why people like me are scared to transition.
I love how you think that I am doing this because I enjoy changing and modifying cars. Ad hominem, again. Your argument is crumbling before you. Admit it, you are a bigot who hates people different than you. Why does it matter who or what I choose to date or be with? That is my business, not yours.

Hey I said I do not wish you ill will. I wood have copied the charts to show levels of dissatisfaction but they use Java script to fill in the charts so its a bitch. You go and view the image and its a chart that is blank - Javascript values to fill in. Odd how I found 54% satisfied and you find 88% but of course there are so many charts and situations - Nor did I try and cherry pick a low ball number.
I think you did cherry pick some value under some circumstance. Sex changes are not effective, say researchers
There is no conclusive evidence that sex change operations improve the lives of transsexuals, with many people remaining severely distressed and even suicidal after the operation, according to a medical review
The review of more than 100 international medical studies of post-operative transsexuals by the University of Birmingham's aggressive research intelligence facility (Arif) found no robust scientific evidence that gender reassignment surgery is clinically effective.
Chris Hyde, the director of Arif, said: "There is a huge uncertainty over whether changing someone's sex is a good or a bad thing. While no doubt great care is taken to ensure that appropriate patients undergo gender reassignment, there's still a large number of people who have the surgery but remain traumatised - often to the point of committing suicide."
Arif, which advises the NHS in the West Midlands about the evidence base of healthcare treatments, found that most of the medical research on gender reassignment was poorly designed, which skewed the results to suggest that sex change operations are beneficial.
Its review warns that the results of many gender reassignment studies are unsound because researchers lost track of more than half of the participants. For example, in a five-year study of 727 post-operative transsexuals published last year, 495 people dropped out for unknown reasons. Dr Hyde said the high drop out rate could reflect high levels of dissatisfaction or even suicide among post-operative transsexuals. He called for the causes of their deaths to be tracked to provide more evidence.
Dr Hyde said: "The bottom line is that although it's clear that some people do well with gender reassignment surgery, the available research does little to reassure about how many patients do badly and, if so, how badly."
There are around 5,000 post-operative transsexuals in the UK, according to the transgender pressure group Press for Change (PFC). It is estimated that up to 400 sex changes will be performed this year on the NHS and privately. Each operation costs the NHS around £3,000, while private patients pay upwards of £8,000 for surgery.
I suppose you will drag out a study that disagrees. Again I wish you the best I really do. Best you avoid posts by Autphag aka Sophie - Mods just put the breaks on much because he-she is now making death threats to a MD in full name. Guess Autphag is not so much so pleased currently.

It is working out for me great, again, you use a strawman argument to try to win this argument and you are not. Just quoting a piece of text with no references is useless. There is no reasoning or rationalizing with you. I will play your game however and shoe you real science that has been donw.
Transgender people find their natal sex and the corresponding gender role unpleasant and alien, and wish to be able to live in the gender role and body of the other sex. Gender dysphoria is effectively alleviated by sex reassignment treatments. Quality of life is improved among the majority of patients, and regrets are rare. Psychiatric symptoms at the initiation of the transition process, discrimination, negative attitudes, losses in relationships, and complications in somatic treatments may deteriorate the social integration and quality of life of the transgender people. Health-care professionals can ease the transition process by organizing support for transgender individuals according to the same principles as they do for other people.
. Positive and desired changes were determined by all of the instruments: Participants reported high degrees of well-being and a good social integration. Very few participants were unemployed, most of them had a steady relationship, and they were also satisfied with their relationships with family and friends. Their overall evaluation of the treatment process for sex reassignment and its effectiveness in reducing gender dysphoria was positive. Regarding the results of the standardized questionnaires, participants showed significantly fewer psychological problems and interpersonal difficulties as well as a strongly increased life satisfaction at follow-up than at the time of the initial consultation. Despite these positive results, the treatment of transsexualism is far from being perfect.
Results:In both samples we found high levels of satisfaction in all the areas explored (including sexual life after surgery), and levels of psychological and social well-being comparable to those of the general population. Conclusion: Our results support previous studies suggesting that SRS not only alleviates gender dysphoria but also improves quality of life and psychosocial functioning in transsexual persons.
I can keep going. I have literally Hundreds of these proving my point. You have articles written by websites and people who are Known to have transphobia like Chris Hyde, His study was flawed and any rational scientist can see that. Your argument is flawed. Would you mind if I ask a bit about your transitioning? It's a topic of interest to me, as somebody who studies psychology. Feel free to not answer, if you'd rather not.
Did you know or feel that your gender identity didn't match your biological sex from a young age? A lot of transsexuals know it from a young age. But it's not an ironclad rule, of course.
@674,551 (F)
If it's the volume of data you're concerned about, there's more. I found these a while back, in a separate debate:
Mean satisfaction scores were 9.1/10 and 9/10 for those that underwent SP and RAP, respectively. No patient (0%) regretted starting genital-GCS surgery.
Compared with a Dutch reference population of community-dwelling men, transsexual men scored well on self-perceived physical and mental health.
Surgical satisfaction was high, despite a relatively high complication rate.
I mean, it's not surprising. Studies have found very strong evidence that transsexuals are "wired" as the opposite sex on a very fundamental, biological level, within their genes and their brain structure. So altering their body to more closely match their fundamental biological feeling would probably make them feel better.

Because your government doesn't think your people can make grown up decisions. You can't even own guns ffs. I went to two therapists and a psychologist before I ever wlaked into an IC clinic. I Told them everything, how it was when I was a child, how it was when I was a teenager and they were all like "You are transgender, We would like to help you get the hormones you need if you would like to transition into being a woman". If i could be happy as a man I would stay that way but I cannot. I need to do this.
@674,596 (WSD !m2cp3rR5zw)
I buried these feelings under a mountain of hate. I drifted towards ideologies that made me feel superior and normal when I was the exact kind of person they would have hated. I regret this but I was growing up confused and angry. I have come a long way from then and I am proud of myself. I am clean and sober, as well as no longer obese which was a big deal for me. I changed my entire life for this.
It is actually pretty hard to get in. I mean some clinics might give you hormones just signing the paper but my doctor fucking grilled me. She wanted to know everything, who my doctors were, who my therapists were, How did I acquire the Hormones on my own, why didn't I take them while I had them, what drugs I did in the past, did I ever wear womens clothes. What age did I know that I wanted to be a girl. I have a legitimate case of Gender Dysphoria and it shows. She believed me and prescribed them to me.
@674,618 (RWBY Rhubarb? !!iNo3FkiZx)
Ask me anything. You were always nice so I know your questions are legitimate. I knew when I was 3 that I wanted to be a girl. When I was 13 I saw a story on HBO about Buck angel and some MTF trans ladies and they were talking about how hormones worked and I wanted to do them so bad. I had the hormones for 9 months before I could even work up the courage to take them because I was that terrified of being transgender. It's hard but for once I have a purpose and motivation in life. I am no longer depressed like I was before.
There is so much data enforcing the idea that GD is real and is treatable with hormones and SRS. There are mountains of evidence supporting this and the odd article or misguided research study that goes against it, So many trans women and trans men end up so much better off after doing this and I will be one of those people too, but when you are wanting your study to say being trans is bad you will find evidence for it, regardless of whether its based in reality.
I am already on delestrogen, proscar and spironolactone. My endo is at the clinic I go to.
@674,625 (kook !!mCVqftDha)
I am finding out that a few of them are just fetishizing being a girl or transitioning into one. There is nothing wrong with having a fetish but it does not mean you completely change the dynamic of your life just to be sexually excited. I am happy to help any of the transgender people on this board that ask for help or advice or just need to talk about it, but I don't want to further anyones delusions thinking this is somehow some wonderful or easy thing I am doing. Its fucking terrifying.

@previous (Nexus !jNexusRe/.) > but when you are wanting your study to say being trans is bad you will find evidence for it, regardless of whether its based in reality.
Yeah. It's like how there's all of this "evidence" asserting that homosexuality is caused by abuse. It's just what they want to find. But, fortunately, it seems that these studies aren't stopping the direction that American society at large is going in, in regards to how transsexuals are treated.
Anyway, thanks for answering my question. I have another, if you don't mind. don't know if I can phrase this very accurately, but I'll try...
One thing that's interested me is how a lot of gendeired behaviours are innate. But, at the same time, the environment has a lot of influence on top of that. It's always interesting seeing how those factors interplay in a person.
You seem to imply that, for a while, you at least tred to live in a male gender identity (apologies if I got that wrong). Having lived in it, and now fully coming into a female identity, do you think you've kept anything from being in a male identity, on top of your innate female identity? I mean things along the lines attitudes, activities, hobbies, ect. Basically, has maleness given you anything unique, do you feel?
(Edited 1 minute later.)
Nexus !jNexusRe/. (OP) replied with this 10 years ago, 12 minutes later, 1 day after the original post[^][v]#674,694
Yes, there are quite a few behaviors that I have kept from my time as a dude. Being a house slob, working on cars and small engines. I mean, sure there are girls who do work on them but it us usually seen as a masculine activity. Most of the time it is a dude who is working on your car. Another think I have kept is kind of my attitude and the way I talk. Women speak and move differently than men and I never really noticed it before but our locomotion has very distinct differences. My height Is another thing that is male about me, My bone structure won't change because I am so old, but since I am still young my fat is going to redistribute to a more feminine shape. My face looks different but many of my male features will still be there.

I wish I could have transitioned as a kid, I totally would have if I had been born in todays society. Still, most people are like caitlyn jenner and are transitioning in their 40s, I am 24 so my results will be pretty drastic.
Have you been offering people any lettuce to smoke?
When my buddy had his son at the hospital the security guard tried telling us we couldn't smoke on their property and could only smoke in the busy ass street. So we went into the parking garage and smoekd there.

I was told that people in their twenties still had a chance to pass very well, but I am really starting to believe that it really just depends on how you're built at any age. I hope I got lucky since I'm 26.
Also, people in their 40's are transitioning late probably because they never got a chance to do so when young, I predict as society builds a tolerance to such concepts then the number of late transitioners may go down.

If anything would give me away, I assume it'd be that. I'm also 24, and looking to start transition as soon as I can find a specialist.

Im 6'1" and wear size 13. I am glad I am no longer obese, that woulda been bad. Look for an endocrinologist, or call some of the planned parenthood/Gynecologists/Abortion clinics in your state. One of them is bound to have an IC HRT program or know where to send you. Get a therapist before you do however, having one has helped me tremendously in my transition.
Anonymous N replied with this 10 years ago, 9 minutes later, 1 day after the original post[^][v]#674,745
I've been seeing one since June, but that's a good idea. I hadn't thought about calling those places. I tried my state's TGRC, but they never called me back. I have an endocrinologist, but he's a diabetes specialist. You are supposed to see one for 6 months before starting HRT.
