Did you know that you can actually craft the new stone types instead of mining them?
All it needs to get started is cobblestone and nether wart.
2 cobblestone + 2 nether wart = 2 diorite
1 diorite + 1 cobblestone = 2 andesite
1 diorite + 1 nether wart = 2 granite
I had no idea it was possible to craft these stones, but now there is no point in even mining them.
Just setup a cobblestone generator and go mine the nether.

you can also craft mossy cobble with vines and cobble
