Perhaps such belief structures were invented as a means of maintaining an ordered society. I mean, look at us now, we have gays and trannies running amok demanding the literal destruction of all that is good and sacred. The religions of the past would have encouraged the euthanasia of these mentally ill delinquents. Society is proven to have been ordered better when segregated by ethnicity. Liberals are truly the four horsemen of the Apocalypse when it comes to "progress".
Which is better?
A society that lies to themselves about everything just because they are too easily offended and afraid to realize the truth that Natural Selection doesn't favor them or a society where it puts guidelines and literal restrictions on how people should behave and conduct themselves for the betterment of all involved in living within said society.
This is what religion does and how it helps the world from straying too far off the path marked by God himself.
